It’s now a new month and that means, it's time for a new favorites post! I know I’m a bit late for my September favorites post because honestly I was just so lazy to take photos of the things I’m going to talk about and since the power was out for a half an hour (or so) today, thought I’d take pictures of them to pass the time.

First: Mascara

I know that this mascara is kind of old but just recently when I was going through all the makeup my sister didn’t bring with her to the UK, I found this mascara. I’ve worn this before but I’m not sure why I stopped because clearly, I love love love this mascara now. I wear this mascara almost everyday for the past month! If you’ve been following my favorite makeup posts then you will know that I always wear my NYX mascara but to be honest, I have not worn them for quite a while now. Guilty.

This mascara is amazing. It adds volume and length to my eyelashes, which makes it thicker but it still looks natural. It’s also waterproof (as stated) and I absolutely love waterproof products because my face gets oily so they tend to smudge if they’re not waterproof. It’s waterproof to the point that it’s a bit difficult for me to take it off. I’m not sure if it’s my makeup eraser or the mascara but I find it hard to take it off and that’s probably the only flaw I can say for this product.

Second: Lip Tint

Whenever I’m in a hurry, which is almost all the time, I tend to always wear whatever lip products I carry in my handbag and this is one of them. I actually got this from years back honestly, when I was staying in KB at my cousin’s place and her mother bought this for me. I’m not sure if they still sell these though because it was from a long time ago but it still works so I still wear them. It wasn’t my go-to lip product at first because I don’t really like dark lips but somehow last month, I wore this color almost all the time. ALMOST. It’s easy to apply and it doesn’t dry out my lips; probably because it’s a lip tint. It also has SPF 15! Wonderful.

First of all, HOW CUTE IS THE PACKAGING??

You know I’m a sucker for cute packaging so they immediately caught my eyes. I was on a hunt of finding a new shampoo because the shampoo I used before this was the one I have been using for 3 years straight. The reason why I didn’t change it was because whenever I try to, my scalp ends up getting really itchy and flaky and it would only stop if I go back to the original shampoo that I was using. This happened a lot for the past 3 years and it was quite worrying because this shampoo worked well at first and in the end my hair just got used to it, I guess.

So when I bought these two, I was really hoping that my scalp won’t get all itchy and flaky because if they did, I would be so disappointed on not being able to continue using the shampoo and conditioner. After 2 weeks of using them, my scalp wasn’t itchy AT ALL. I was quite surprised because as I said, no matter how many times I’ve tried to change my shampoo, I couldn’t BUT FINALLY, after 3 years, I have found the PERFECT shampoo and conditioner!!

It doesn’t only smell nice, but it doesn’t make my hair oily nor does it make my scalp itchy. I see no dandruff on my hair, amazing but I still have hair falls from time to time so I probably just have to keep continue using them. Bonus point for the packaging, of course. Sigh. I just love these two!

Forth: Movie

Now, I actually watched this movie last August with my family and I don’t know why I didn’t put it in my August Favorites because this movie deserves to be in a favorites post. I am the type of person who would always be down to watch animation movies, and if I were to list all the animation movies I love, it would be never-ending. When my siblings first talked about it, I had no idea what’s it about as I’m not the type of person who watches trailers. I prefer to just go in the movies without expecting or knowing anything about it but somehow the title got me curious and it got me thinking, what kind of movie is this?

So I went on youtube and watched the trailer and honestly from that moment, I couldn’t stop bothering my family about it. I was curious on how the story goes and I was curious on how it will end. I don’t want to spoil it to anyone who hasn’t watched it but the movie wasn’t a boring one, at least to me cause there would always be something happening. It’s wonderful.

AND. They had a short animation clip before that too that made me sing along and dance to it! I have the song on my phone now and I listen to it all the time. So to anyone who hasn’t watched it, YOU SHOULD. I’m not really sure if they’re still showing it but if they are, go go go watch!

Last: Quote

Once you’ve read the quote, I’m sure you understand what it means. Last month was quite a rough month for me as I lost one of the special people in my life, assignments were building up, people were getting on each others’ nerves and all those things. So there are times when I feel like I just want to shut the world and just be alone, not talking to anyone, not doing any task, just simply do nothing but then I thought, there are so many things to do, so many responsibilities that I don’t have time to mope around and do nothing. I told myself whatever that is going on in my life, people out there have it worse, I should be thankful for all the blessings I have.

Everyday might not be a good day but at least I have a roof above my head, meals on my plate and most importantly education. We are so blessed living in Brunei that the government either pays or subsides almost everything. There are a lot of people who depend on me, who need me and I can’t just let myself crumble for so long. Yes, I broke down but I told myself to immediately get back up. I had one bad night that made me lose my focus for the whole day, the next day but Alhamdulillah, at the end of the day I managed to gain back my senses.

This quote means a lot to me, it might sound sassy but it’s true. Whatever situation you are in, make sure to be professional about it. Don’t let personal matters affect your work or your schoolwork. It is ok to cry, it is ok to have a day off from everything but you have to tell yourself, once this is over, I’m going to leave whatever I just let out and move on with my life. As what was quoted “no matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up.”

So, during lunch I talked about the blog with my family and my sister gave me an incredible idea on what to blog about! She told me she wants to be given credit for suggesting the idea so here you go, shout out to my sister, Syahirah Firzanah for giving me the idea to blog about my August favorites!

I was thinking hard on what to include in my august favorites because I am not sure how all these monthly favorites work, do you mention the things you bought in August which you love or do you talk about the things you bought a few or couple of months earlier and still loving to this date? And I’ve decided to go with the latter. Also, I am planning to do this for every month but I will be limiting the things to only 5 of them!

So,

First is Perfume: Anna Sui Forbidden Affair

I have always been a perfume lover and a perfume collector; I could have more than 2 perfumes but I would only use one. I know, it’s a bad habit but often the reason why I buy a lot of perfumes is because I love the packaging. Yes, I am a sucker for pretty packaging and I would purchase that item right away when I see the packaging is cute. Sigh. I need help.

Anyway so last June I went to Singapore for my holiday and I bought different types of perfume, one of them was Anna Sui’s Forbidden Affair. I love the smell of this perfume; it has such a sweet smell. It doesn’t give out that strong smell as well, where you would cough nonstop the moment you inhale the smell. Yeah, I hate those types of perfume. AND the packaging is so cute too! I am in love with the shape of the bottle! The top looks like a crown, or is it just me.

Although I have to say the name of the perfume sounds sad but it doesn’t matter because the smell is amazing and I use this perfume almost all the time. Why not all the time? Because I want to save this perfume for as long as possible! I don’t get to travel a lot so I rarely have the chance to buy all these stuff so I try to save up whenever I can. Though if I were desperate, I would go online and buy them.

Second is Clothing: GAP Sweater

I have been loving this sweater from GAP lately. I use it all the time but mostly at night when it’s a bit cool. Bruneians know how the weather has been very unpredictable lately. It could be raining cats and dogs one time and all sunny the next. So I wear this sweater whenever it’s chilly. I love the fabric of this sweater; it’s not that thick but its also not that thin. Though, the color was the first thing that attracted me to even look at this sweater because I have been obsessed with gray lately. I don’t know why too. It’s just really pretty in my eyes.

Third is Eyeliner: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner

You may realize in my previous makeup post that I talked about this eyeliner. Yep, it’s Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner. Honest to God that this eyeliner stands by their name, first it does stay all day and second it is really waterproof. As I mentioned in my previous post as well that people say that whenever you have an oily face, your eyeliner or your mascara will still smudge no matter what. I have an oily skin and this eyeliner doesn’t smudge, AT ALL. I also love the fact that this eyeliner is easy to apply, because I know there are other eyeliners out there makes it hard to draw a perfect line but I can assure you, if you use this eyeliner, you will do it with ease. Well…. If you’ve got enough practice that is. Hehe.

Fourth is Makeup Remover: Makeup Eraser

I wanted to talk about this on a separate post because I figure it deserves a post on its own, as this is definitely one of the Holy Grail products, EVER. I got my makeup eraser from my sister (thanks zats) and I have to say, I save more money now because I use this instead of my previous makeup cleansers. The only thing you need is water and you just clean your face with the damp towel.

I didn’t believe in the makeup eraser before this because you need more than just water to cleanse your face! So when I used it for the first time, I re-cleanse my face with my sephora makeup cleanser and NOTHING was on the cotton pad. Nothing. It’s safe to say that the towel cleared up most of my makeup.

Although, whenever I have more makeup on my face than usual, I would wipe my face with the towel twice. The towel also has two sides, and the bottom one is for you to exfoliate. It really smoothens my face every time I use it. It’s amazing. I would totally recommend this product.

Last is Skincare: Innisfree green tea balancing cream

I have an oily-combination skin and I have been on a hunt to find the perfect moisturizer to make my face less oily. This moisturizer has got to be the closest one! It’s not the perfect one I’ve been looking for but it does make my face less oily. Which I really really love! It doesn’t suffocate my skin after I apply it and it dries out quickly. So yay for that!

Though in Brunei we don’t have Innisfree so I have to order it online before it runs out because I don’t have plans on changing it any time soon. I want to see if it really does make a difference to my face and it smells really good too! I love anything green tea. They’re amazing.

So, those are my top five favorite products so far!

It’s been approximately two weeks since we welcomed Syawal and I hope all of you enjoyed, or are still enjoying the festive season unlike me… why? Because I have been sick since the 4^th day of raya. I know, it sucks. I had plans on going out to visit more of my friends’ houses but I got really sick to the point that I could not leave my bed. I’m much better now compared to the first week, Alhamdulillah but I am on the verge of losing my voice. Sigh. That’s okay. I hope I’ll get better before semester starts, which will be next weeek! Yikes.

So today I want to talk about my makeup on the 4^th day of raya, before I got really sick which was inspired by Jenn Im’s Girl Next Door! I got the idea to talk about them because of my friend, Diyana Amin. She asked me something about makeup and I showed her the picture and I thought, hey why not blog about this! So here I am! She’s also a blogger guys, go check her out at diyana-a.blogspot.com!

So lets get started!

First, base makeup which consists of primer, foundation, concealer and setting powder.

For the primer I used, benefit’s porefessional. I have to say this is one of the Holy Grail products! No one can say no to this product, NO ONE. I love how its very light on the face, it doesn’t give that gooey feeling like some primers do and it really does hide your pores. So I just put a reasonable amount on my face, because honestly you only need a bit. A bit goes a long way with this one guys.

So next, foundation. For foundation, I mix Cyber Colors’ Essence UV Liquid Foundation and Lo’Real True Match Foundation. I know in my previous make up post I said I wouldn’t change my foundation because I really loved my Revlon foundation but I ran out of it and I searched the whole of Brunei for it and they didn’t have the shade that I want. I KNOW. I was devastated so I bought the Lo’Real foundation out of desperation but I have to say it does its job but it makes my face oily after a while.

As for Cyber Colors’, I bought this when I was in Singapore when I was searching for the Revlon foundation as well but then I got this one instead. So far I’m really loving this product… It covers up well, it doesn’t make my face that oily and it’s very light on the skin. Which I love because I hate suffocating my skin with heavy foundation. So, I mix both of the foundation and just dab it all over my face with my beauty blender.

Concealer, I used Revlon’s ColorStay concealer and I honestly just concealed under my eyes because everything else has been covered up by the foundation. Mostly. Which I really really love too! So after everything is done, I set my face with Bare Mineral’s Mineral Veil. I’m loving this product too because, again, it’s very lightweight, and it’s translucent so it doesn’t add color to my skin.

On to the brows, I love doing my brows after I have finished the base makeup and before I work on my eyes. I don’t know why but it’s become a habit and I like it like that too. So I used, Benefit’s Browzings in the shade “dark”. Honestly at first I didn’t like this product but I just kept using it because I thought it would be a waste. Though eventually I came to like it and I use it everyday now. So yay! I don’t know how to describe me doing my eyebrows because again, I have not mastered in this area yet but I’ll just tell you how I did it anyway. First, I brush my eyebrows so it won’t look like it’s all over the place and then I just slowly fill in my eyebrows with the product. I just follow the shape of my eyebrows because I don’t pluck them. I don’t know how but I don’t really care about them anyway. Haha. So after I fill them in, I put some concealer besides my eyebrows (if that makes sense) to make it less messy.

As for the eyes, I don’t use any eye primer because I don’t own one and that has to change but I don’t really use eye shadow that much anyway so I guess that’s why I still don’t have it till now. So I go straight on the eye shadows and I used the NAKED 3 palette, BUT before that I used the NYX Eye Jumbo Pencil in Yoghurt as the base of my eye shadow and I love love the color. It’s really pretty. And after that I go on and took the shade “Limit” and just place that all over my lid and to the inner corner of my eyes. Then I took a brown pencil liner and just draw a line with a slight wing and took the shade “Liar” and just blend it with the brown eyeliner. And lastly I took the shade “Factory” and just place them in the middle towards the end of my eyes. After everything, I just blend them all together.

NEXT! Eyeliner and Mascara. For eyeliner, I used Stilla’s “stay all day waterproof liquid eye liner” and just draw a slight cat eye, which I just realized I am terrible at so I hope you guys can do that with ease! I didn’t like the way it looked on me when I did it. Sigh. That’s okay. So for the eyelashes, first I curl my lashes and put on an eyelash base from Etude which I bought in Singapore as well. I’m not so sure if they sell it here though. I have to check that out soon. So anyway, after I apply them to my eyelashes then I applied my favorite mascara, YES still the NYX Le Chick Flick waterproof mascara. I love this product. And good news everyone! I know some people say that even with waterproof eyeliners and mascaras, they will still smudge if you have an oily face BUT guess what! They did not smudge at all! I kid you not. I was happy I didn’t have to rub off the smudges under my eyes. Finally.

Almost done guys, next are the bronzer, blusher and highlighter. For the bronzer I use NYX’s Matte Bronzer and just use the “3” technique to apply them on my face. I’ve been loving this bronzer as it doesn’t make my face look dark and it’s very lightweight as well. I am all for lightweight product guys. Then I go on to apply the blusher I use from this NAKED FLUSHED palette, and I love this color too, it’s not too pink, it gives out that “rosy cheeks” look which you know I love so much. I used the highlighter from the palette as well, and just apply them on the highest part of my cheeks and on the centre of my nose.

Last but not least, the lips! I used Estee Lauder’s lipstick in the shade CANDY. This is such a nice color. I love this lipstick and as you can see, I’ve used most of them and it doesn’t look pretty anymore. Sorry for that guys!
