two minds two voices.

So, during lunch I talked about the blog with my family and my sister gave me an incredible idea on what to blog about! She told me she wants to be given credit for suggesting the idea so here you go, shout out to my sister, Syahirah Firzanah for giving me the idea to blog about my August favorites!

I was thinking hard on what to include in my august favorites because I am not sure how all these monthly favorites work, do you mention the things you bought in August which you love or do you talk about the things you bought a few or couple of months earlier and still loving to this date? And I’ve decided to go with the latter. Also, I am planning to do this for every month but I will be limiting the things to only 5 of them!

So,
First is Perfume: Anna Sui Forbidden Affair

I have always been a perfume lover and a perfume collector; I could have more than 2 perfumes but I would only use one. I know, it’s a bad habit but often the reason why I buy a lot of perfumes is because I love the packaging. Yes, I am a sucker for pretty packaging and I would purchase that item right away when I see the packaging is cute. Sigh. I need help.

Anyway so last June I went to Singapore for my holiday and I bought different types of perfume, one of them was Anna Sui’s Forbidden Affair. I love the smell of this perfume; it has such a sweet smell. It doesn’t give out that strong smell as well, where you would cough nonstop the moment you inhale the smell. Yeah, I hate those types of perfume. AND the packaging is so cute too! I am in love with the shape of the bottle! The top looks like a crown, or is it just me.

Although I have to say the name of the perfume sounds sad but it doesn’t matter because the smell is amazing and I use this perfume almost all the time. Why not all the time? Because I want to save this perfume for as long as possible! I don’t get to travel a lot so I rarely have the chance to buy all these stuff so I try to save up whenever I can. Though if I were desperate, I would go online and buy them.

Second is Clothing: GAP Sweater

I have been loving this sweater from GAP lately. I use it all the time but mostly at night when it’s a bit cool. Bruneians know how the weather has been very unpredictable lately. It could be raining cats and dogs one time and all sunny the next. So I wear this sweater whenever it’s chilly. I love the fabric of this sweater; it’s not that thick but its also not that thin. Though, the color was the first thing that attracted me to even look at this sweater because I have been obsessed with gray lately. I don’t know why too. It’s just really pretty in my eyes.

Third is Eyeliner: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner

You may realize in my previous makeup post that I talked about this eyeliner. Yep, it’s Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner. Honest to God that this eyeliner stands by their name, first it does stay all day and second it is really waterproof. As I mentioned in my previous post as well that people say that whenever you have an oily face, your eyeliner or your mascara will still smudge no matter what. I have an oily skin and this eyeliner doesn’t smudge, AT ALL. I also love the fact that this eyeliner is easy to apply, because I know there are other eyeliners out there makes it hard to draw a perfect line but I can assure you, if you use this eyeliner, you will do it with ease. Well…. If you’ve got enough practice that is. Hehe.

Fourth is Makeup Remover: Makeup Eraser

I wanted to talk about this on a separate post because I figure it deserves a post on its own, as this is definitely one of the Holy Grail products, EVER. I got my makeup eraser from my sister (thanks zats) and I have to say, I save more money now because I use this instead of my previous makeup cleansers. The only thing you need is water and you just clean your face with the damp towel.

I didn’t believe in the makeup eraser before this because you need more than just water to cleanse your face! So when I used it for the first time, I re-cleanse my face with my sephora makeup cleanser and NOTHING was on the cotton pad. Nothing. It’s safe to say that the towel cleared up most of my makeup.
Although, whenever I have more makeup on my face than usual, I would wipe my face with the towel twice. The towel also has two sides, and the bottom one is for you to exfoliate. It really smoothens my face every time I use it. It’s amazing. I would totally recommend this product.

Last is Skincare: Innisfree green tea balancing cream

I have an oily-combination skin and I have been on a hunt to find the perfect moisturizer to make my face less oily. This moisturizer has got to be the closest one! It’s not the perfect one I’ve been looking for but it does make my face less oily. Which I really really love! It doesn’t suffocate my skin after I apply it and it dries out quickly. So yay for that!

Though in Brunei we don’t have Innisfree so I have to order it online before it runs out because I don’t have plans on changing it any time soon. I want to see if it really does make a difference to my face and it smells really good too! I love anything green tea. They’re amazing.

So, those are my top five favorite products so far!

What are yours? I’d love to know! I might even try some.

p/s; I would like to thank Mr.Google for the 4 photos I use above.

So yesterday Liyana and I decided to film a "Whats in our bag" Video! We honestly were just bored and we thought it would be fun to film it instead of writing it down.

Note that its our first ever video, so I apologize if the quality, the audio and everything else are not perfect! We didn't have fancy equipments, we just used my camera and just edited them with iMovie. Also, we couldn't find a perfect angle to shoot the video, for the lighting of course because we decided to use natural lighting. So, we do apologize if one part it gets too bright and the other gets too dark. I blame my walls too because they're pink. It has its disadvantage.

In this video, I did Liyana's makeup! Based on the post I made which was a Jenn Im inspired makeup post! We filmed that too actually but I figured that was for another day. The lighting also made our eyebrows look weird!! Just trying to put it out there guys but we're both not eyebrows crazy, we don't really care how our eyebrows look. Haha.

So, with that being said, here's the link to our video!

Last but not least, Enjoy everyone! Sorry again if it's not perfect, it was our first try and please, NO negativities! hehe

I know I said I would blog again yesterday but I was caught up with everything that I didn’t have the time to update. Before I begin though, as I mentioned on my previous post that I was excited for pretty little liars right? So I watched it yesterday and, honestly I am even more confused than before. YES we know who A is but, really? Everything doesn’t add up! Sigh better wait for the next season then.

SO ANYWAY,

I have always been a bag lover, I always tell people that I don’t think I have enough bags when in fact I have more than what my bag holder can handle. Trust me, I tried to give away my unused bags but I just cant help it! They are my babies and they need to stay with me forever. So a couple of months ago, or maybe more than that I have been eyeing on this bag by Vivy Yusof which was the Sofina 3 bag. I liked the previous bags before that one but I wasn’t as attracted to the rest as this one.

Though I missed my chance to grab the bag because it sold out quickly and I honestly did not expect that so I was like, ok maybe not my luck. THEN, they opened a pre-order for the Sofina 3 but I told myself, lets just think about it first. I dragged it on until the date for the pre-order closed. I automatically regretted it! Though at that time I didn’t think I needed a new bag, but whenever I see people with their Sofina bag it hurts me inside. Dramatic but its true.

THEN comes the day they announced the release of Sofina 3 Signature! I told myself to get this bag no matter what it takes! But then I went to sometime_byasiandesigners’ instagram and they said they will be releasing the bag the same time as the school event which I had to attend. I was honestly devastated, I was thinking of asking people to get it for me but I figured it was too much. And then when I was about to sleep, I got a tweet from a friend saying FashionValet released Sofina 3 Signature already. I rose up quickly, grabbed my wallet as I switched on the laptop. I told myself I have to get this, no. matter. what!

So I went to FashionValet’s website and clicked the Sofina 3 bag AND I realized I’ve forgotten my password. So in the midst of everyone rushing to grab the Sofina bag, I just had to forget my password. Though! I didn’t panic! I just quickly made a new password, and thankfully I’ve put my address before hand when I created the account and I was only left with my card details. Quickly keyed them in and Voilà, Sofina 3 Signature in Grey, PURCHASED. I went to bed with a smile on my face that night.

So, the next day, as I was cleaning up my shoe cabinet, someone rang the bell, I opened the door (carefully cause I don’t like to open doors for strangers but that day I just had to) and TADAAAAA! MY BAG CAME. I shrieked and the delivery man laughed and said “enjoy.” So I said thank you and quickly ran inside to open up the parcel.

There it was, my new beautiful baby, my Sofina 3. I have to say I am really satisfied with this bag. Everyone (maybe not everyone) knows that I love big bags! I have a lot of "necessities" that I need to have in my bag. So I always go for big bags.

My Sofina 3 Signature = Big, beautiful color, amazing quality, how can I not be obsessed with this bag!

Thank you FashionValet for the excellent service. Sofina 3 was honestly the first purchase I have ever done on FashionValet, and it was a memorable one! That includes me changing the password in midst of everyone trying to purchase a limited edition item. Haha.

So here are three pictures of me attempting to do an #ootd with my Sofina 3 Signature that Nisa took.

Me: "Nisa its so panas."
Nisa: "Eh just pose!!"

Me: "But....."

Me:  "...the sun"
Yep, thats how I take my ootd guys haha.

Some of you may or may not know that this blog is definitely not my first. I have started blogging since 2008. Yep, way back then when I was still a teenager (still am for a few months then I will no longer be in my teens. Cries.) I have always been so interested in writing because writing is my way of expressing myself. I was a very shy kid before, it was hard for me to make friends, so I tried blending in and that did not go well because I turned into someone I wasn't.

I started losing friends, my grades went down drastically and everything was just not right to the point that it left me with a negative mindset but one day I stumbled upon this person's blog and she talked about life; how life isn't always easy and all that and ever since that day I have been questioning all the things I have done; is this right? Do I have to act like someone I'm not JUST so people would like me? And etc. That post made a huge impact on me which made me realize that I want to be able to deliver that feeling to others like how she did to me.

Yes I may write useless and random stuff but at the end of the day my main reason for creating a blog is to motivate and inspire people in any way possible. In fact, that is also my goal in life; to inspire others when they feel like they have no hope anymore. Although, I may not be that important person that you should look up to but I want everyone to know that, there are still people out there who still care, who are willing to help you with anything.

I am working very hard now to try to be that person who can inspire others. I also love to be inspired, I always look for inspiration and motivation simply because they make me happy and they make me stay positive. Though, I do have days where I would just mope around feeling all dark and negative but I always tell myself to be strong, and to look at the bright side because I know, other people have it worse. I keep telling myself even if I don't have a lot, I should be thankful to have a roof over my head, adequate food on my plate and to have amazing people that support me through everything and I want you to be able to think that way too.

I may not have a lot of medals, a lot of achievements but I can assure you that I will find a way to somehow inspire and motivate you. If you have any doubts and if you ever feel like you're lost, please come talk to me, I am all ears. I don't want you to feel like you're not good enough, not smart enough, not beautiful enough because the truth is, no one is perfect, all that matters is how you choose to react to everything. Whether you want to think negative about it (which I wouldn't want you to do) OR to look at the brighter side and just be thankful for all the things I have mentioned above. I know I have mentioned this in my previous posts as well but I can't stress this enough; YOU ARE WORTH IT. Everybody is.

So thats the main reason why I have decided to create a blog!

Oh and I also like to share the random things I do in my everyday life. For example, all the embarrassing moments, which I have yet to blog about and anything related to beauty and fashion! Hehe.

P/s; I initially wanted to write about something else but that's for another day. Maybe tomorrow! Because I'm trying to be more active so our blog won't be dead.

Pp/s; If you are following pretty little liars, I AM BEYOND EXCITED FOR TOMORROW'S EPISODE!!!

Ok, good night!

*dusts off cobwebs from my part of the blog*
(Props to Sabrina for keeping the blog alive while I was MIA!)
It's been so long since I've written anything (blog, article or speech-wise!) but the first day back to Uni meant that a 4 hr lecture was cut short to less than 30 mins so that granted me ample of time to write a post! At least before I dive into more work, of course.

I can't think of anything better to kick start my writing spree again than to talk about my long awaited success in nailing 100 unbroken skips!!!

Skipping has always been one of my most dreaded workouts because back then, I couldn't skip for my life! My first go at it was last December during one of my very first classes in CrossFit. I will never forget how horrible my first few tries were.

I would either be desperately trying to get my skips right or completely disregarding the whole idea of even considering to skip for the day. I hated it. I hated the idea of not being able to do it and I hated the idea of failing.

When I say I dreaded it, I really do mean I dreaded it. It wasn't just some workout that I was lazy to do or just hated the burn. No. It affected me emotionally. I hate failing the first time because that would make me fear the second and the next few tries. When I say I couldn't skip, I really could not skip. I would trip at every try and all those failures have brought me close to tears multiple times.

There are a few moments which are still burned at the back of my memory:

The Opens
Before the 3rd workout of the CrossFit Opens, I tried practicing my skips almost everyday. Some went fairly okay, while some were bad. Little did I realise that all those afternoons and nights practicing would lead to shin splints. I did not know what the pain on my shins was, so I just shrugged it off thinking it was just sore. Days passed and the pain continued to grow to the point where it hurt to even touch it. On the 3rd week of the Opens, I ignored the pain and tried to skip anyway. That was when things when horribly wrong. On the day, I was fairly convinced that I would do alright considering all the practice I've had but I couldn't be more wrong. Everything that could go wrong actually went wrong that night. I kept tripping on the rope and the rope kept getting stuck in my hair. Needless to say, I did not complete one round before the time was up. I think that was the very first time I have ever slumped on the ground in disappointment and was on the verge of crying. I did not only go home with a heavy heart filled with disappointment, but I also brought back added pain on my shins that lasted for another 2 weeks. From that day on, a roller coaster of emotions have been following me on my journey to perfect my skips.

Trying to get back
After that incident, I gave it a break for a few months and completely threw the idea of skipping aside. What made the thought creep back in was the fact that in order to Level Up to Level 2, I had to get my 100 unbroken skips done. 100 unbroken skips?! How was I going to do that? Over the semester break, I tried doing just that. Another wave of emotions hit me almost every night. Over the course of a few months, I went through nights of at least an hour of non-stop trials. Some nights, I got 0 skips done but as I progressed slowly, I got up to 20, 50, and squeezed my way through 89 unbroken. By the end of those nights, I would have done hundreds of skips but none of those consisted of 100 unbroken ones.

Some nights, I would tell myself, This is it. I am not going home without that 100 unbroken skips. But guess what, I still had to go home without it. This repeated itself more and more until I actually got it when I least expected it..

The day I finally nailed it
It was just like any other day walking in the box not expecting anything extraordinary to happen. Without thinking, I grabbed a skipping rope and started skipping not even considering trying to get that 100 unbroken that day. Everyone was minding their own business so I counted my skips myself. (I usually have someone count for me and Nash normally does it for me. 100 unbroken skips for the Level Up only officially counts if someone was there to witness it.) For the first time ever, my breaths were even and I did not feel tired when I found myself counting past 89...90...91...and eventually hit 100!!!!! I stopped after 100 and just stood there speechless and sat on the floor for a few seconds before I walked over to Nash and told him calmly that I got it. I got it. I had mixed feelings about it. I was over the moon that I finally FINALLY got it but what if that was just a one time thing and I can't do it again? Convinced that if I've done it once, I can do it again, Nash talked me into trying it again and this time, he counted. My first try got as close as 98 but I wasn't going to stop there. I requested that no one counted out loud so I would not freak out when I know I'm close to 100. I skipped blindly not knowing whether I'm close to finishing or not when I heard voices from behind saying "SHE DID IT RIGHT?" and I heard joyous laughter. That's when I turned around and realized that I officially nailed my 100 unbroken skips and that proved that it wasn't just a one time thing. Of course, I did not let the moment go without a shriek that echoed throughout the whole box and I was ecstatic the entire day!

They say practice makes perfect. I found that practice makes phenomenal progress.
They also say it's not going to be easy, but it's going to be worth it. I learnt that it's never easy, you're going to crash and burn but the success is worth all the pain.

The support of people you love and people around you should never be underestimated because without them, you might not be able to get back up again.

Here's to my crossfit673jerudong community and of course the one and only Nash who stuck by me from Day 1!

It’s been approximately two weeks since we welcomed Syawal and I hope all of you enjoyed, or are still enjoying the festive season unlike me… why? Because I have been sick since the 4th day of raya. I know, it sucks. I had plans on going out to visit more of my friends’ houses but I got really sick to the point that I could not leave my bed. I’m much better now compared to the first week, Alhamdulillah but I am on the verge of losing my voice. Sigh. That’s okay. I hope I’ll get better before semester starts, which will be next weeek! Yikes.

So today I want to talk about my makeup on the 4th day of raya, before I got really sick which was inspired by Jenn Im’s Girl Next Door! I got the idea to talk about them because of my friend, Diyana Amin. She asked me something about makeup and I showed her the picture and I thought, hey why not blog about this! So here I am! She’s also a blogger guys, go check her out at diyana-a.blogspot.com!

So lets get started!

First, base makeup which consists of primer, foundation, concealer and setting powder.
For the primer I used, benefit’s porefessional. I have to say this is one of the Holy Grail products! No one can say no to this product, NO ONE. I love how its very light on the face, it doesn’t give that gooey feeling like some primers do and it really does hide your pores. So I just put a reasonable amount on my face, because honestly you only need a bit. A bit goes a long way with this one guys.

So next, foundation. For foundation, I mix Cyber Colors’ Essence UV Liquid Foundation and Lo’Real True Match Foundation. I know in my previous make up post I said I wouldn’t change my foundation because I really loved my Revlon foundation but I ran out of it and I searched the whole of Brunei for it and they didn’t have the shade that I want. I KNOW. I was devastated so I bought the Lo’Real foundation out of desperation but I have to say it does its job but it makes my face oily after a while.

As for Cyber Colors’, I bought this when I was in Singapore when I was searching for the Revlon foundation as well but then I got this one instead. So far I’m really loving this product… It covers up well, it doesn’t make my face that oily and it’s very light on the skin. Which I love because I hate suffocating my skin with heavy foundation. So, I mix both of the foundation and just dab it all over my face with my beauty blender.

Concealer, I used Revlon’s ColorStay concealer and I honestly just concealed under my eyes because everything else has been covered up by the foundation. Mostly. Which I really really love too! So after everything is done, I set my face with Bare Mineral’s Mineral Veil. I’m loving this product too because, again, it’s very lightweight, and it’s translucent so it doesn’t add color to my skin.

On to the brows, I love doing my brows after I have finished the base makeup and before I work on my eyes. I don’t know why but it’s become a habit and I like it like that too. So I used, Benefit’s Browzings in the shade “dark”. Honestly at first I didn’t like this product but I just kept using it because I thought it would be a waste. Though eventually I came to like it and I use it everyday now. So yay! I don’t know how to describe me doing my eyebrows because again, I have not mastered in this area yet but I’ll just tell you how I did it anyway. First, I brush my eyebrows so it won’t look like it’s all over the place and then I just slowly fill in my eyebrows with the product. I just follow the shape of my eyebrows because I don’t pluck them. I don’t know how but I don’t really care about them anyway. Haha. So after I fill them in, I put some concealer besides my eyebrows (if that makes sense) to make it less messy.

As for the eyes, I don’t use any eye primer because I don’t own one and that has to change but I don’t really use eye shadow that much anyway so I guess that’s why I still don’t have it till now. So I go straight on the eye shadows and I used the NAKED 3 palette, BUT before that I used the NYX Eye Jumbo Pencil in Yoghurt as the base of my eye shadow and I love love the color. It’s really pretty. And after that I go on and took the shade “Limit” and just place that all over my lid and to the inner corner of my eyes. Then I took a brown pencil liner and just draw a line with a slight wing and took the shade “Liar” and just blend it with the brown eyeliner. And lastly I took the shade “Factory” and just place them in the middle towards the end of my eyes. After everything, I just blend them all together.

NEXT! Eyeliner and Mascara. For eyeliner, I used Stilla’s “stay all day waterproof liquid eye liner” and just draw a slight cat eye, which I just realized I am terrible at so I hope you guys can do that with ease! I didn’t like the way it looked on me when I did it. Sigh. That’s okay. So for the eyelashes, first I curl my lashes and put on an eyelash base from Etude which I bought in Singapore as well. I’m not so sure if they sell it here though. I have to check that out soon. So anyway, after I apply them to my eyelashes then I applied my favorite mascara, YES still the NYX Le Chick Flick waterproof mascara. I love this product. And good news everyone! I know some people say that even with waterproof eyeliners and mascaras, they will still smudge if you have an oily face BUT guess what! They did not smudge at all! I kid you not. I was happy I didn’t have to rub off the smudges under my eyes. Finally.

Almost done guys, next are the bronzer, blusher and highlighter. For the bronzer I use NYX’s Matte Bronzer and just use the “3” technique to apply them on my face. I’ve been loving this bronzer as it doesn’t make my face look dark and it’s very lightweight as well. I am all for lightweight product guys. Then I go on to apply the blusher I use from this NAKED FLUSHED palette, and I love this color too, it’s not too pink, it gives out that “rosy cheeks” look which you know I love so much. I used the highlighter from the palette as well, and just apply them on the highest part of my cheeks and on the centre of my nose.

Last but not least, the lips! I used Estee Lauder’s lipstick in the shade CANDY. This is such a nice color. I love this lipstick and as you can see, I’ve used most of them and it doesn’t look pretty anymore. Sorry for that guys!

SO, that is all! I know this is such a long post but I figured that I’d talk about it. Till next time guys.

It’s Raya tomorrow everybody! If you’re living in Brunei that is, if you’re in Malaysia or in other countries, I bet you’re already full by stuffing all those yummy food in your tummy, especially Raya cakes. Mmmm.

While those in Brunei just finished our last day of puasa for this year and I know that most of you are still not done cleaning your houses even when it’s Raya tomorrow. Tsk tsk, you guys shouldn’t procrastinate a lot and start cleaning your houses earlier. Ha! Who am I kidding? My house is still not ready for Raya! I have been telling myself to clean the house for a few days and I have only started cleaning yesterday. Sigh. But don’t worry; I’ll make sure the house is ready for tomorrow.

Anyhow, I’m not going to blab more on that but instead, I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a blessed Eid Mubarak! I sincerely apologize for all my wrongdoings whether it was intentionally or otherwise. I know I have made a lot of mistakes in the past and I will for sure make more mistakes in the future but I am deeply sorry all the mistakes that have hurt any of you in any way possible.

I’m only human; it’s inevitable for us not to make any mistakes but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel bad for all the mean things that I have done. I’m not sure if all my mistakes will be forgiven or not but here I am, apologizing for my mistakes. It doesn’t matter if I am not forgiven but at least I apologized and that’s what matters most to me.

Over the years I have learned many things, and when I say many, I mean A LOT. I have grown to know which is ACTUALLY right and wrong. And in the process of me getting to know these things, mistakes were made and I don’t regret any of them at all. Yes you may think, “You don’t regret hurting someone at all?” Of course I do, but then again all the mistakes I have made, I take those as lessons for the future so I won’t make the same mistakes again.

It was hard for me accept my mistakes at first, I would get upset for days, I would shut people out but after that I realized, wow, that was not a good feeling. I was lonely, I was cranky and everything else. I didn’t like how I felt when I was upset and with that I told myself I need to change the way I think.
I trained myself to accept my mistakes and turn them into lessons for the future, although there were times I just feel like I couldn’t take it so I just broke down BUT I made sure once I’m done with that, I would never look back on it ever again. I would just drop everything and let it go. It wasn’t easy but I definitely felt better once it was over.

So what I’m trying to say here is that, I know you must regret doing something you shouldn’t have done but instead of thinking negatively about it, why don’t we turn it around? Let’s turn “I made a mistake! This is horrible.” … to “I made a mistake. That’s ok, I’ll take this as a lesson.” And with that mindset, I can guarantee you will feel much better.

Though, I have to remind you guys that, all your mistakes, even if you think it’s a small mistake, make sure you apologize. It may be a small thing to you but it might not be to the person you’ve hurt. We will never know someone’s true feelings because they can fake it and pretend it’s ok but you will never know if the things you said, or the things you did actually upset them.

So lets all take Raya as an opportunity to drop our ego and just apologize. They might think that was insincere and just apologizing because its Raya but who cares right? You know your intentions better than anyone and even if they don’t forgive you, at least you apologized. So lets clear all the hatred, the tension, and just enjoy our Raya.

I loveeeee Hari Raya because that’s when everyone get together and just be with each other! There’s nothing I love more than spending time with the people I love…. And food. Raya food is always so good. I can’t wait to stuff myself with yummy food and I can’t wait to see everyone’s dresses tomorrow! Well I’m mostly excited for the food. Hehe.

So again I would like to say Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Maaf Zahir dan Batin to all Muslims! May we have a blessed Eid Mubarak!

(Edited the picture myself, sigh why am I not creative)

So… I told myself that I wasn’t going to talk about CrossFit until the day that I have achieved at least something and today was that day. It may be a small achievement but I’m proud of myself for it.

I joined CrossFit almost a month ago, just before Ramadhan and honestly, the reason for me actually going was just to “accompany” Liyana cause she has been asking me to go for monthssss and I finally gave in to her. The first class was quite easy for me because I didn’t do all the hardcore workouts like everybody did. Well, since it was my first day. So I thought hey this isn’t so bad… until I saw others’ faces after they finished their workout! That, to be honest, scared me but since I enjoyed my first class so I was like why not come again. So I did. Until I became an official member. OH! AND, the fun thing about my first class was, I met my kindergarten teacher!! She’s also a member but I rarely see her now cause we WOD at different times. Hope to see her again soon!

As what I was saying…..

The classes after that were getting harder and harder for me to the point that I sometimes didn’t finish the workout. I completely gave up! Which made me upset but I just couldn’t do it that time. Though, among all the WODs, there was one WOD that disappointed me so much, which, involved running. I HATE running!! I can’t emphasize that enough. I can never run as fast as others, I can’t even jog that far without feeling tired. With that mindset, I sadly didn’t finish the WOD but that disappointment made me want to push myself harder. I told myself, Ok, you can’t run…. YET. So lets train! And the next time I went for CrossFit, I went outside to run for my warm up. (I usually row for warm ups instead of running, just so you know.)

SO today’s workout involved running, AGAIN. I was very nervous for it because I obviously didn’t have a lot of time to train but I did it anyway. AND I finally, FINALLY finished the WOD today! Despite being the last one to finish running, and the last one to finish the WOD, I finally did it! *Pats self on the back. I honestly couldn’t do it without the support from others! I felt like giving up in the middle when I saw it was almost time to stop but their support kept me going. I can’t thank them enough. So yay! Ran today, and actually finishing a WOD. *happy dance! Even though the moment I finished, I dropped down and just lied there for a solid 2 minutes (or more). Not even kidding.

One step at a time,
One day at a time.

Let that sink in for a while. What does that mean to you?

If you've been keeping up with this blog, you'll know that being on a break from Uni definitely did not mean a break from work and responsibilities for me. I thought I'd be stress free for 3 months but that's not what is happening right now.

At times, I find myself stressed out to the point where I am demotivated beyond words. I stress out about things that have yet to be done, and I just want to do them all in one go. But we all know what that will turn out. There are so many things I want to do and achieve but all I end up doing is nothing.

Trying to do everything at once results to not getting anything done at all.

That's when this phrase comes in handy.
One step at a time,
One day at a time.

1. I try to be patient with myself.
I am naturally not a very patient person. When things don't go well or according to plan, I lose my temper and drop everything I initially plan to do. I get mad at myself for not being to fulfill my own expectations, and I rush through a lot of things that should not be rushed. This is something I'm trying to improve about myself because a little bit of patience can go a long way.

2. I try to plan my day.
Every night, I try to look through the list of things I need to get done the next day to mentally prep myself of what I should expect and remind myself of errands or meetings that I need to attend to. I also check upcoming events, speeches or deadlines I have in the next few days or week to keep myself on track.
Now, this is quite a challenging task for me because as I have mentioned, I am not a very patient person and I can't stand having to sit and look over my planner for just a few minutes because my mind is urging me to go do something else. However, I think this is crucial step that needs to be done every day to ensure that you have an efficient tomorrow! This is another thing I am trying to improve about myself.

3. Stick with it!
It's one thing to plan, it's another thing to actually carry out those plans. If you put that Pro in Procrastination like I do, we both need to work on that! Procrastination is a habit probably 99% of people possess, so don't worry you're not alone! But just because everyone else is doing it, it does not mean you shouldn't try to grow out of it.

4. I try not to stress out on the "have-nots",
Like I have mentioned, I tend to stress out a lot on things that I have not yet done. Whenever I am trying to work on one thing, my mind will drift off and worry about another. This will distract, disturb, irritate and finally cause me to abandon the work I was working on in the first place. Productivity = 0.

5. I try to be realistic.
I have made the mistake of trying to dump everything I have to do in one thing thinking "yeah, I can handle all this. That way, I'll have a productive day and all my work will be done!" Guess how that turned out? Horrible. I couldn't keep up with things and I ended up sulking the entire day.
Now, whenever I plan for the next day, I try to keep my plans realistic and I try to keep in mind time I have for each plan.

6. Be spontaneous once in a while.
After having said all that, it's clear that a well planned out day is better than a messy one. But whenever you find the time for anything besides work or errands, nothing is better than some spontaneous fun with the ones you love. Have a meal out or just hang around with the people who matter to you. Make use of that time before you need to get back to well planned out day! :)

Only now am I jumping into this bandwagon! I am quite certain We Were Liars has been the talk of the entire reading community but I have only recently gotten my hands on it, and what I mean by recent is, last month. Hehe.

Maybe you've read other people's thoughts on this book, now let me tell you mine:

My initial reaction:
"What on earth am I reading?"
If it wasn't for the fact that I talked to my friend, Aainaa, about it beforehand, I wouldn't have continued reading. I am quite an impatient reader and I rarely give my books second chances so I'm very glad Aainaa convinced me to stay tuned.

A few chapters in:
I was already developing theories on why things were happening the way it was. Scenarios started being bizarre and I was getting more and more convinced that my crazy theories were right.

Towards the end of the book:
I WAS RIGHT!! I felt like such a genius for figuring out the most part, and if you haven't guessed it by now, I was well and truly engrossed in this book that I forgot my initial feelings towards it.

Final Verdict:
3/5 stars from me. The mystery in it completely pulled me in but I wouldn't necessarily re-read it again simply and only because it took quite a depressing turn for me and I'm not one to re-read a book like that again. However, I'm glad I gave it a chance and I think everyone should give it a read! From the title alone, it might seem like a Sophie Kinsella kind of novel but it definitely isn't. There were some dark parts, at least I thought so. It wasn't a super light read for me.

I'm not going to summarise the entire book for everyone because I don't want to give out too much details. You have to read it for yourself! But here's what you probably would want to know before reading the book:

The story revolves around a big and rich upper-middle class (or maybe even upper class) family, the Sinclairs. All is well and perfect, at least on the outside. Things took a turn for the worst after a horrific incident, especially for one particular member of the family, young Cadence Sinclair. Follow the story and mystery of the Sinclair family in this book!

Happy Reading, everyone!

Ever since the puasa month has started, I've had way too much free time on my hands during sahur so I find myself on Instagram looking at things I wish to purchase then later on forcing Sabrina to get them with me. Henna was one of them.

So the story goes like this:
One morning, I stumbled on an Instagram page (@nanazeehenna) and saw a picture of a beautiful henna design. I was immediately drawn to it and the next thing I knew, I was stalking this Instagram profile. I have never really given Henna a thought in the past or developed any special liking towards it but when I was scrolling through this page, the urge to get one done for myself grew increasingly strong! The designs were beautiful!

And then a week (or more) after that, (And after constantly reminding Sabrina about it), this happened! Hehe

Don't you guys think it's beautiful??

After watching the whole process of drawing (can you say that?) the design (free hand, mind you!) I have a new found respect for all artists alike out there! Hats off to you guys because I could never even draw a proper stick man with people watching me. I don't work well under pressure! Also I'm not very creative.

The owner of this business did these designs herself and she's amazing at it! We got the chance to chat with her a bit while she worked on our hands and she turns out to be a really friendly person! If you're interested in getting these beautiful designs on your hands in time for the festive season, she's the person to contact! Sabrina and I are so pleased with how it turned out.

And they had cupcakes too!!!

As I'm typing up this blog post, I'm admiring my hand at the same time!
I just have a few smudges because I accidentally wiped it all over my shirt and phone. Hehe

And of course, because it's fasting month, we ended our day with sungkai at Tasconi's!

Was this information really necessary, you ask? It is when the food is this good! I know I can always count on Sabrina to snap photos of our food while I continue not to care when she tells me to put down my spoon and fork first.

So it's safe to say we both had a satisfying day out!

Mission Project Henna & Sungkai, Accomplished!

I’ve been wanting to write up a post on my trip to Singapore with my mom and my cousin earlier this June but I haven’t gotten around to do so because I was still choosing on which part to talk about. If I talked about the whole thing, this post would be never-ending as I spent 5 days there and I had quite an adventure. My mom went there for a business trip and since my cousin and I were free, we decided to tag along.

Before going to Singapore I was thinking whether I should buy their SIM Card or not because obviously I didn’t want to use my phone data while I was in another country, it would cost me a lot! But then I figured since my cousin has it, I’d just be with her at all time so I won’t actually need it. Though both of our phones were connected to the other phone with the SG SIM card using the phone’s personal hotspot so I still could surf the Internet using that. (If that was confusing; we had 3 phones, one had the SG SIM and two with Brunei SIM card.)

Upon going to Singapore, both my cousin and I listed down which places to visit and when we want to go there. So we went online and found out that every Wednesday, there will be pink dolphins at the underwater world! I am no doubt, a fan of pink so I was ecstatic when we found that out and decided we should just go that day.

Below: Pictures of a pink dolphin I took!

After visiting the ever so adorable pink dolphins, we figured we would go shopping at Vivo City before heading back to our hotel. I went to several shops there but I spent a lot of time at this one particular shop, which was Cotton On. Both my cousin and I knew I would take a while to finish shopping there because I like to go through every section of the store to see if anything captures my eyes. So knowing that, my cousin decided to go to other stores to buy some stuff and we would just meet up somewhere later.

After spending more than half an hour at cotton on, I decided to go to our meet up point but when I reached there I couldn’t find her so I figured she was still shopping at other stores. I wanted to ask her whereabouts but I couldn’t connect to any of the Wi-Fi there so I was just going around, trying to look for her but obviously couldn’t! So I told myself, I’ll just go back to Cotton On and wait for her there BUT as I passed a few shops, I noticed that I was connected to the Wi-Fi! So I quickly checked and I was connected to the personal hotspot so I went back to the few shops to see if my cousin were there and as I passed a sports shop, there she was, picking out jerseys for her brother.

I laughed to myself as I entered the store because I found it so funny on how I managed to find my cousin using that. But then after that I thought, hey, I was connected to the Wi-Fi, I should have just texted her instead of searching for her in every store I passed by. Sigh Bimbo moment right there but no worries, I love living life on the edge. You know what they say, everyday calls for a new adventure, and searching for my cousin like that was definitely a tiny part of it.

So lesson for today is guys, always switch on your hotspot so it would be easier for them to find you or the other way around BUT make sure, if you’re connected to the Wi-Fi, please text them instead of being so adventurous and trying to search for them in every store like how I did. *facepalms

On a side note, I survived going around Singapore thanks to my cousin. She did basically everything; she checked spots on where to go, how to get there, how much money we needed, even before we went to Singapore. I am so thankful and so amazed by her, thank you dear cousin! So here gorgeous, this post is for you.

Semester break so far has been nothing but thinking ahead for the near future. With my second year of Uni just around the corner and my Discovery Year next year, you can say that my stress level is starting to peak again.

For anyone who doesn't know what Discovery Year is:
The university I go to, UBD, gives students the opportunity to either study or work outside the campus for a year when they reach their third year. Students with a high GPA are given the chance to study abroad fully funded by the university. There are more detailed explanation to this, of course. But this is the gist of it.

Now, in order for me to be sent abroad fully funded by the university, I have to score a GPA of above 4 for next semester alone. This is because the cGPA (total GPA for 3 semesters) has to be 3.8 and above to fully qualify for the Study Abroad Programme.

Last semester was chaotic to say the least, which led to a fall in my grades. To make it up, I have to work extra hard next semester. However, this does not mean I am ready to give up everything I love to do, (i.e. public speaking, etc.)

There has not been a day where I did not doubt myself. I doubted my capabilities. I doubted my ability to make it.

People have been asking where I plan to go for my Discovery Year and I can never give them a straight answer. I always answer them with "It depends on my grades". My answer alone showed that I doubt myself. And if that didn't give it away, I'm sure my facial expression did. To my surprise, I don't remember anyone reacting with sympathy. No one gave me a single look of pity and told me "It's okay, there are other options". Everyone looked at me straight in the eye and said something along the lines of "Why do you always doubt yourself? You'll make it" and "C'mon, you know you can". Although I don't say it to everyone, these encouraging words are what keeps me going. To know that people out there believe in me and what I can do is enough to make me get back up.

Whether I succeed or fail to get my goal in the end is besides the point. The point here is, there are people who believe in me and it just shows that I should at least have an ounce of belief in my abilities too. Maybe then things will work out for the better.

Here's to a better GPA for my third semester!

It's that time of the year again! How blessed we all are to see Ramadhan for another year.

To me, this year felt like it just started. I still remember New Years Day where I celebrated with a nap on the living room couch. Among all the other years, this year takes the cake for the most laid back New Years celebration ever. But compared to any other year as well, even though only half way through, this year has got to be my happiest one yet.

Now, everyone knows being happy comes with it's challenges. The challenges I have faced this year were tough. It made me burst into tears more times than I would like to admit and it made me question my purpose in life a whole lot. However, I overcame them anyway. It was not easy but I did. These challenges led to my achievement in so many things. These achievements will be forever stored and framed in my heart and mind.

The people I've met and spent my time with this year play a huge role in my success and happiness, and for that, I will be forever grateful. Without their love and support, pushing through every obstacle would've been next to impossible.

There are so many wonderful things to be thankful for this Ramadhan and there is no better way to show how grateful I am than to take this holy month as a stepping stone to not only be a better Muslim, but also a better person.

I hope everyone else has about the same idea in mind and I wish you all a very very blessed Ramadhan. May we all see the end of this beautiful month as better people together!

Selamat Berpuasa to all my Muslim friends and family!

Liyana

As mentioned above by Liyana, it's that time of the year again! Syukur Alhamdulillah that we are all still alive and well to welcome this holy month of Ramadhan again.

Ramadhan is probably the month that I have been waiting for every single year, the feeling of Ramadhan to me is just indescribable. Every year I always have goals that I need to achieve during Ramadhan, and sadly, I have yet to cross out any one of them in my list *sigh* but not to worry, I am not giving up as I still can try to achieve them this year.

Completing Taraweh for the whole month has always been one of my goals during Ramadhan. Well I know it's impossible for us ladies, but I'm talking about those days where we can actually perform them. I have never surpassed 10 days or 15 days of Taraweh, and I want to change that. I long for the feeling after completing them for the whole month (or the days we can actually perform them) and if that day comes, I will be sure to write it down in my achievements list!

Reciting the Al-Quraan and actually finishing the whole Juz in this holy month is also one of them. This is a bit hard for me to do because I tend to sleep off my hunger than do anything else but again, inshaAllah, I want to change that. I will try to complete one Juz in a day, if I can. Although I know that is not impossible as I see people do it all the time, even during other months.

Third, would probably be... Me, cooking for Iftar. I am one of those ladies who can only cook simple meals, when I say simple, I mean really simple but I have always wanted to try to cook other food as well. I don't spend much time in the kitchen cooking as how I do in baking because I love to bake! Though, I guess it's time to step up and actually know how to cook real (and yummy) food. Since today is the first day of puasa, I shall try to cook something for Iftar later.. (and I'll be going on youtube to find food that I can cook after this).

On a side note, I have to tell myself to do something productive and beneficial this Ramadhan because I tend to get sad whenever I look back on my pervious years during Ramadhan and knowing I did not do anything that's beneficial that can help others, or to improve in myself when we know that this month is all about that. I am ashamed and I am determined to change that.

So I guess to me Ramadhan is the time to improve myself to be better, not just for now but for the hereafter as well. Although I have to put it out there that I am only human, I make mistakes and sometimes I get side tracked but I am trying my best to be the better version of myself than how I was a year a go.

With that I would like to wish every one of my muslims family and friends a very blessed Ramadhan, and I would also like to apologize for any of my wrongdoings, whether intentionally or otherwise. Let's hope this Ramadhan will help us to better ourselves and let's hope it will be better than the last! InshaAllah.

*blows off dust on our blog. Shoo dust; we don’t want people to get sick.

So today was kind of an off day for me, as I didn’t have anything to do and knowing that, I told myself to stay up last night and if you are close to me, you would know that I would already be asleep even before the clock strikes twelve. The earliest I could go to bed is at 9 – 9.30; yep, I am that old. I don’t know why though but I get really sleepy at those times and I just have to sleep it off or else I would get a headache. BUT I will not go in detail about how I actually have an old soul because I have another reason for writing this post.

I knew I didn’t have things to do today so I stayed up last night (as mentioned above) and of course knowing my body and my brain, I need at least 6 hours of sleep and I ended up waking up late this morning as well. And let me tell you… I’ve never felt so good in so long! I was SO happy that I got the chance to wake up late and stay in bed the whole morning. I was basically just lazy-ing around and I realized that it’s been a while since I got the chance to do that. I forgot how amazing it felt and so, I told myself that I should do this more often; I should give myself off days like these to recharge. Being busy is fun because you have things to do but having days to just stop and drop everything feels amazing too.

I know people, including myself have no choice but to constantly do our work BUT I feel that we need to step back and smell the flowers. Life is too short to worry about those things all the time, we might feel guilty not doing anything but I know we will be doing ourselves a favor. We shouldn’t be overworking our brain, that precious thing needs rest too and not to mention our body as well.

So even if you’re busy with your work, your revisions (I know most of you guys are going to sit for big exams soon, GOOD LUCK!) and everything else BUT make sure you take a day off! Sleep in, make yourself some tea, read your favorite book, watch your favorite TV shows and just relax! Don’t overwork yourself; don’t stress yourself; stop and look around, time will not wait for you; you have to catch it every single time. You might feel guilty because you’re not doing your work but then it’s ok to just have a day without all that. At the end of the day you will be thankful for giving yourself a chance to breathe, and you will also be more energized to continue your work the next day.

So please just give yourself a day off to relax; you need it, your body needs it, your brain needs it and you definitely deserve it!
